Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts by recording financial transactions accurately
  • Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoice processing and collections
  • Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements
  • Conduct account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including sales tax and corporate tax filings
  • Track and manage fixed assets, calculate depreciation, and maintain asset schedules
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial data and analysis
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for internal and external audits
  • Analyze financial data and prepare variance analysis reports for management review
  • Maintain organized financial files and accounting records for easy retrieval and compliance
  • Review and code transactions for accuracy across various accounts and departments
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with organizational policies
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience in a professional setting
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas
  • Experience with general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
  • Understanding of financial reporting and statement preparation
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CPA-eligible status

  • 2-4 years of experience in general accounting, public accounting, or corporate accounting
  • Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, including federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Experience with multi-state tax filings or international tax
  • Background in fund accounting or nonprofit accounting
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial consolidations
  • Familiarity with multi-entity accounting environments
  • Experience in specific industries such as healthcare, real estate, property management, or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) for grant compliance
  • Experience preparing Form 990 for nonprofit organizations
