- Inspect and prepare loads that need to be moved, assessing weight, size, and balance requirements
- Set, align, level, and anchor heavy equipment machinery at construction sites and manufacturing facilities
- Select appropriate rigging gear including cables, pulleys, winches, beams, clamps, and bolts according to load specifications
- Attach loads to rigging equipment to provide support and prepare them for moving using hand and power tools
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms using bolts and clamps
- Control the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings and confined spaces using chainfalls, gin poles, and gallows frames
- Maneuver loads using heavy equipment machinery and by hand, tilting, dipping, and turning suspended loads to navigate obstacles
- Monitor and maintain rigging equipment, conducting regular inspections to ensure safety and reliability
- Test rigging before final use to verify safety standards are met
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials
- Communicate effectively with rigging team members, crane operators, and construction personnel
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear as needed
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use and conduct post-rigging inspections

Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 2-3 years of professional experience working as a rigger
- NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certification Level 1 or higher

- In-depth understanding of rigging equipment, heavy machinery, and lifting techniques
- High-level mathematical skills for calculating load weights, pressure, angles, and weight distribution
