Objectives

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and network systems
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues including desktops, laptops, printers, and servers
  • Provide technical support to users and resolve IT-related problems through various channels including phone, email, and in-person assistance
  • Manage and monitor network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Ensure security of IT systems including data backup, antivirus protection, and access controls
  • Direct and coordinate local implementation of IT operations, projects, and programs ensuring alignment with business needs
  • Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security
  • Develop, implement, and update security and privacy policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Review vendor contracts and coordinate IT purchases for hardware, software, and services
  • Plan and execute IT projects including upgrades, migrations, and installations
  • Participate in development of IT Service Catalog offerings, Service Level Agreements, and Operating Level Agreements
  • Coordinate information security incident response and reporting for security events or exploited vulnerabilities
  • Conduct investigations of security incidents and prepare written findings and recommendations
  • Manage IT risk through proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies
  • Document IT systems, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and training purposes
  • Provide personnel management including hiring, performance evaluations, and professional development of IT staff
  • Maintain currency with state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to IT administration and support
  • Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, software, networks, and operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • Knowledge of network protocols, security principles, and best practices
  • Understanding of IT processes, controls, and risk management frameworks such as CoBIT, ISO, NIST, ITIL, and PCI
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies
  • Ability to analyze organizational IT needs and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in technical work
  • Knowledge of information security regulatory requirements including FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, and Sarbanes-Oxley

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5 years of supervisory or management experience leading IT teams
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CISSP, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or similar credentials
  • Vendor-specific certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, or IBM
  • Experience in risk, compliance, and information security policy development
  • Knowledge of information security standards such as ISO 27001/2, SANS Top 20, and NIST 800-53
  • Experience with higher education, governmental agency, or corporate information security practices
  • Experience developing security awareness educational programs
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience with project management principles and methodologies
  • Strategic planning and advanced leadership skills
  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies on security incident investigations
