- Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including central air conditioning units, ductless mini-split systems, heat pumps, furnaces, and commercial rooftop units
- Diagnose system problems through visual inspections, customer interviews, and use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, electronic leak detectors, and thermal imaging equipment
- Perform cooling and heating load calculations using Manual J methodology to properly size HVAC systems for residential and commercial applications
- Test for refrigerant leaks using dye testing, electronic leak detectors, or nitrogen pressure tests while following EPA guidelines for refrigerant handling and recovery
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to complete installations and repairs accurately
- Maintain accurate service call logs, repair histories, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry regulations and support warranty claims
- Explain technical issues to customers in clear, easy-to-understand language and present good-better-best service options with transparent pricing
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure workplace safety
- Respond to emergency service calls during on-call rotations and manage time effectively to complete scheduled appointments
- Create and present maintenance agreements to customers, schedule regular service appointments, and follow up on open estimates
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in proper working condition and ensure adequate inventory of parts and materials

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling (Type I, Type II, or Universal)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of HVAC technical training program or apprenticeship
- Strong understanding of HVAC terminology including BTU (British Thermal Unit), CAV (Constant Air Volume), and AHU (Air Handling Unit)
- Knowledge of heat transfer mechanisms including conduction, convection, and radiation
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues using diagnostic tools and logical problem-solving methods
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and HVAC-specific equipment
- Physical capability to work in challenging environments including attics, crawl spaces, and rooftops, and ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds
