Responsibilities

  • Check finished products for proper doneness, appearance, and plate presentation
  • Garnish finished entrees according to house specifications and procedures
  • Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests such as food allergies
  • Act as the point of contact between front-of-house and back-of-house staff
  • Set up the front line with equipment, plateware, and smallwares needed for service
  • Assist with setting tables by fetching and placing appropriate tableware, utensils, napkins, and glassware
  • Serve welcome drinks, water, bread, and butter upon guests' arrival and provide refills as needed
  • Check in with customers and respond to additional orders or requests
  • Remove dirty dishes and utensils; clear and reset tables after guests leave
  • Answer guests' questions about ingredients and menu items
  • Inform restaurant staff and management about customer feedback, complaints, or requests
  • Ensure families with young children receive kids menus and special silverware sets
  • Keep station restocked throughout the shift and maintain cleanliness of work areas
  • Clean large and small trays and tray stands to be ready for service
  • Complete all side work and closing duties as assigned by management
  • Report any unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, accidents, or injuries to the chef or manager on duty

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 18+ years of age
  • Current food handler's card and certifications as required by federal/state/local law
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy trays (up to 40-50 lbs) and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong oral communication skills and ability to speak and read English proficiently
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Physical ability to walk without assistance on various surfaces for extended periods
  • Ability to twist, reach, bend, climb, and carry as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food presentation

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Two years of direct experience as a busser or food runner in a similar high-volume restaurant environment
  • Six months of experience in a fine dining establishment
  • Hospitality-related kitchen experience
  • Degree in hospitality or restaurant management
  • Valid driver's license
  • Multilingual abilities (communication in multiple languages is a plus)
  • Experience with standard kitchen equipment including refrigerators, coolers, slicers, and beverage machines
